Brittanichthys axelrodi

9. January 2012

++ Currently (january 2011) a good number of wild collected animals of that species reached us! Code 211902 ++
Every now and then you will find this very sensitive tetra (which is above all prone to stress) among a few specimens of Cardinals Paracheirodon axelrodi. If used to aquarium conditions, however, it is very enduring inside a species tank. The authors keep some animals in very soft sour water, which already caused many spawn releases. But there was no hatched tetra found yet. At night the eggs are getting fastened to objects (plants, aquarium panes, peat bags) in lines by the female. It could not yet get claryfied by us if the fish are stock fertilizers (which is possible due to the weird tailfin hook). The reason for the probably unfertilized eggs is not clear.
