Corydoras weitzmani

6. July 2007

February 2006: We are pleased to be able to offer you the first offspring of a legend. Now offspring of the recently again discovered and in the last year for the first time to Germany imported Corydoras weitzmani are available. Fortunately this beautiful small, at Corydoras panda reminding species, could quite fast be spawned by engaged breeders. This appears particularly of importance before the background of its threatening extermination in the wild. The species is not very productive, therefore it would be welcome, if further Cory fans took care of them. In the maintenance they are unproblematic. Best they feel, if they can as a troop of conspecifics, sieve sand surfaces in the aquarium for food. Flake food, tablets and different frosted foods are gladly eaten. For breeding it may be somewhat more meaty. White Worms (Enchytraeus) and Tubifex promotes the spawn considerably. We hope to be able to offer further offspring of this species to you, since they deserve a further spreading in our aquaria.
