Nannostomus marylinae Venezuela

29. January 2015

We
could import a beautiful, only very rarely available species of pencil
fish from Venezuela: Nannostomus marylinae. Some days after their
arrival the fish showed two remarkable, reddish-brown spots in the
middle of the body, a coloration that is said to be typical for N.
minimus. However, now the fish have lost those spots. We checked the
original description of N. marylinae and found that the two spots are
also present in preserved specimens of N. marylinae. Now we are
absolutely sure that our fish belong to that species.

Nannostomus
marylinae is a comparatively small, slender species of pencil fish that
becomes only 2.5 – 3 cm long. The absolutely peaceful species likes to
swim around in company of conspecifics and is perfectly suited for
small, so-called nano tanks.

For our customers: the fish have code 272123 on our stocklist. Please note that we exclusively supply the wholesale trade.
