The characteristics of the armored catfish Brochis sp. “Labrea” are identical to those of Hoplisoma sp. “Super Schwartzi Hifin CW28” (https://www.aquariumglaser.de/en/fisharchive/hoplisoma-sp-super-schwartzi-hifin-cw28-2/), except that “Labrea” is a long-snouted species and “Super Schwartzi Hifin CW28” is a round-snouted species.
Brochis sp. “Labrea” used to appear in our imports mostly as single specimens mixed in with other species from the Rio Purus (Brazil). However, while reviewing our image archives, we discovered that the species had already been exported in 2017 under the names “labrina” or “labrea.” At the time, though, we had mistaken it for a color variant of B. pulcher and therefore listed it as “cf. pulcher.” We have now received a larger shipment of these beautiful fish.
Maximum size: 6–6.5 cm (standard length without caudal fin); Temperature: 22–28°C; pH and hardness: not significant for care (tap water), soft and acidic for breeding; Diet: omnivorous; Social behavior: peaceful schooling fish.
For our customers: These fish are listed under code 244525 on our stock list. Please note that we supply exclusively to wholesalers.
