Poecilia (Limia) perugiae

The
Dominican Republic is the destination for millions of tourists each
year. But it is only known by few people that also beautiful freshwater
fish exist there. One of the prettiest of them is Poecilia perugiae. We
can offer this beautiful livebearer on a quite regular basis, but have
usually only few specimens in stock. Our specimens are German bred ones.

For our customers: the fish have code 424833 on our stocklist. Please note that we exclusively supply the wholesale trade.

Poecilia (Limia) melanogaster

It happens only
rarely that a wild form of livebearer is kept continuously over decades
by hobbyists. This is understandable if one takes a look on the immense
number of colourful sports that do exist from guppy, platy, molly &
co.. So, if a wild form is able to compete with them it is without any
doubt a colourful fish. Poecilia melanogaster is one of these species.
It originates from Jamaica, but only bred ones are available from time
to time. Although even P. melanogaster can be found only occasionally in
the pet shops: if it appears there they will be sold out soon again!

For our customers: the fish have code 424733 on our stocklist. Please note that we exclusively supply the wholesale trade.

Poecilia (Limia) nigrofasciata

The
Hump-backed Limia is one of the most spectacular species of
livebearers. Initially it is found on Haiti, but is has been kept and
bred in aquaria since 1912 already. This clearly shows that the species
is a favorite aquarium fish: it has survived two world wars in private
home aquaria!

Currently we have breathtaking animals in xxl size in stock.

For our customers: the fish have code 424733 on our stocklist. Please note that we exclusively supply the wholesale trade.

All
species of Limia are very peaceful fish that fit perfectly for
community tanks. If one is interested in breeding the fish only one
species per tank should be kept, for all Limia very easily cross. The
hybrids are not attractive. There should be always several males in the
tank, for their combats are wonderful to look at. These combats are
completely harmless. Limia develop the greatest and most beautiful
coloration when the keeper allows some algae to grow on the side glasses
of the tank. Limia like to graze these algae and obviously this food
contains nutrients that are very healthy for the fish.
